CommonSense American is pleased to announce the success of our announcement event. On June 27th we had the pleasure of announcing where there is bipartisan consensus among the more than 2,000 members who have reviewed our brief on elections legislation.
We announced striking bipartisan consensus among everyday Americans, as well as among election leaders and experts. We are thankful to the over 150 of you who watched this live and to Richard Pildes, Nick Foley, and Steven Bradbury for being on our panel and giving us their insight on electoral reform.
A full recording of the event with the announcement of the results and panel discussions is available on our YouTube channel.
Key findings from the poll include:
- Eighty-seven percent of respondents strongly support clarifying that the Vice President has only ceremonial and procedural responsibilities.
- Seventy-three percent of respondents believe in raising the threshold for objections to one-fifth of both the House and the Senate.
- Eighty percent of respondents indicated they would like more clarification that after Election Day a state legislature may only provide a new means to choose electors if there has been a major natural disaster or a similarly catastrophic event.
